Regina-Dolores Stieler-Hinz is Mayor of the City of Magdeburg and Councillor for Culture, Schools and Sport as well as Chairwoman of the Emperor Otto Cultural Foundation.
As Chairwoman of the Board of the Emperor Otto Cultural Foundation, she is involved in the selection of the Emperor Otto Prize winner. She sees the prize as a great responsibility of the state capital for Europe
“Awarding the Emperor Otto Prize is at the heart of the Emperor Otto Cultural Foundation. Every two years, we honor visionaries who are committed to understanding, peace and social cohesion with a clear pro-European stance. In other words, for the humanitarian and democratic values that characterize the European peace project. The award ceremony reminds us again and again how important it is to build bridges and create connections in order to strengthen Europe together in a world full of challenges. The award winners are an example and role model for us”.
