The prize honours personalities who are role models for commitment and perseverance in European cooperation.

Prof Dr Eva Heidbreder is Professor of Governance in the European Multi-level Governance System at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg.

As an expert in European government policy, her work on the Emperor Otto Prize committee underlines the importance of recognising and honouring personalities who are committed to finding common solutions and preserving peace and prosperity in Europe.

“Europe has elevated co-operation to an everyday political principle in order to preserve peace and prosperity. However, cooperation also means the daily struggle for common solutions and requires people who constantly endeavour and unwaveringly stand up to growing resistance. The Emperor Otto Prize honours these personalities, who are role models for commitment and perseverance, and motivates us to celebrate and join in.”
