The Foreign Office and the city of Magdeburg are once again inviting the public to a town hall meeting on 13 November at 5:30 p.m. in the Old Town Hall.
he city of Magdeburg would like to take stock together with stakeholders and citizens and look ahead: What impetus did the town twinning with Kiryat Motzkin provide for civil society cooperation over the past year? How can cultural exchange, joint commitment to preserving Jewish history and culture in Magdeburg, and encounters between urban societies contribute to international understanding?
Especially at a time when the conflict in Israel and Gaza is moving and shocking people around the world, civil exchange, personal interaction, everyday cooperation and the power of open dialogue should connect people across borders.
Carsten Wilms, Head of Division for Cultural, Social and Media Relations Africa and the Middle East at the Federal Foreign Office, will be our discussion partner on this topic and on the work of the Federal Foreign Office in general.
Location: Old Town Hall, Alter Markt 6
5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Background information
The Foreign Office wants to make foreign policy directly accessible through direct dialogue with diplomats. At the same time, the Ministry is interested in exchange and experiences on the ground. Against this backdrop, the Foreign Office offers the exchange format ‘Town Hall Discussions’. These are aimed at local authorities, civil society organisations and associations. The format offers the opportunity to invite diplomats to local authorities for discussion events on foreign policy issues. For schools, the Foreign Office offers the parallel format “Diplomacy goes to school”.
